It is with a very heavy heart that we tell you Deputy Micah Flick of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, was shot and killed in the line line of duty yesterday in Colorado Springs. Yesterday also marked Flick's 11th anniversary with the department, and he left behind a wife and 7-year old twins.
Officers were responding to a vehicle theft on the east side of town, when an altercation began and shots were fired. The suspect was shot and killed, and two other officers and a bystander were injured but said to be in stable condition. This is the third officer shot and killed in Colorado in just five weeks.
This has go to stop. There is nothing more horrible than a when a person who has committed their live to protect others, dies in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Flick's family. There is no fundraiser set up by the family yet, but you can donate to help with funeral costs, here.
