Colorado State Flag Made it to the Moon and Back

One thing I love about Colorado, is the amount of state pride behind us. That fact has held true for quite some time, especially in July of 1969, when Neil Armstrong went on the Apollo 11 mission with a small Coloradan flag.

When the flag landed safely back in Colorado, the Armstrong family decided to put the flag up for auction, where it was purchased by History Colorado. The museum is a a part of the State of Colorado under the Department of Higher Education. The flag was purchased using the Executive Director's Innovation Fund.

Obviously, Coloradans are known for state pride, so it is ah-mazing that our state flag made it for one of the most historic moments in our country. No one can for sure say why Armstrong chose to bring the small piece of Colorado with them, but I can say we are all quite happy that he did.
