The McCaffrey brothers are being called heros after they assisted an elderly hiker who fell 20 feet off Castle Rock.
Dan Smoker, 72, took his grandson Eli, 13, on a hike Saturday afternoon on Castle Rock trail. Dan fell about 20 feet breaking his neck, femur, pelvis and nine ribs. He also suffered interneral bleeding.
It just so happened that NFL players and brothers Christian and Max McCaffrey along with their former Valor teammate Michael Mann happened to be close by. The guys did chest compressions on Dan and also comforted 13 year old Eli until help arrived 11 minutes later.
Dan’s son and Eli’s Father Tweeted:
Michael Mann, [Christian McCaffrey] and [Max McCaffrey] are great football players, but even better humans. Yesterday, they helped save my dads life after he fell off of Castle Rock,"
Dan is currently in the ICU at Sky Ridge Medical Center where staff say it’s a miracle he’s alive and not paralyzed.
