The community of Colorado Springs is following in the footsteps of libraries across the country and hosting 'Drag Queen Story Time'. The event is organized by LGBTQ group, Club Q, but the Pikes Peak Library District would like to point out that this is not a library sponsored program.
A statement from the PPLD says, “If ever offered or sponsored, the program would be part of a larger exploration of diversity as well as contextualized for children and families in a broad frame of respect for individuality and difference.”
Drag queen Sarah Bellum will be at the Penrose Library this Saturday, September 1st, from 11:45 to 1:45 reading to children and their families.
I personally think this is awesome and teaches children at a young age that everyone is different and that differences should be celebrated!
